Ever wondered how you can incorporate loose eyeshadows and pigments into nail art? This is a really easy, fast way to make any bland nail polish seem 100x more interesting and use up any loose pigments you don't often reach for...
1. Remove any existing nail polish, file your nails into shape and apply a base coat.
2. Paint your nails your desired base colour. On the last coat to achieve opacity, place a little pigment underneath your nail using a small brush/ orange stick/ cotton wool bud/ whatever small tool you have...
3. Working quickly, tilt your finger downwards and blow the pigment across your nail while the nail polish is still wet. It's easier to do steps 2 and 3 at one nail each, so the polish doens't dry before you blow the pigment across.
4. Once the base colour has dried completely, blow your nails again to remove any excess pigment. Now apply a topcoat, the topcoat will drag the pigment across in streaks, giving a pretty cool aged effect.
5. Bask in the glory of your awesome nails!
I USED
China Glaze 'Strong Adhesive Base Coat', Avon 'Blackened Red' polish, Shiro Cosmetics 'Shall Not Be Mourned' pigment, unbranded topcoat.
There you go! Simple, fast and effective nail art! I think metallics over dark bases look most effective - gold over black, silver over navy and so on. You could even use glitter instead of pigment - how awesome would that be?! Have a go and see what you come up with :)
