Wahanda provide offers and deals from spas, gyms and salons throughout the UK. You can have any questions answered in the 'Advice' section of their website if you aren't quite sure if a treatment is right for you. The site also offers reviews posted by customers, so that you know exactly what you can expect before buying into an offer. I find it reassuring to see that the 'Featured Reviews' aren't all five stars, 'sunshine and rainbows' - although I would always advise you do a bit of googling before parting with your cash.
As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by Twitter queen, Liloo and Michael,'the chap', who were stood chatting to a gent from Spa in the City about what looked to me like a storm trooper's helmet. It was, in actual fact a 'Fine Light Skin Rejuvenation System' - a helmet using technology developed by NASA (I guess that's why it looks so 'Star Wars'!) with little lights build it which in theory, encourages the skin to produce more collagen and elastin - giving a more youthful, plumped out look. The lady on the left had been wearing it for about ten minutes when curiosity got the better of me and I had to ask how it felt! She told be that it didn't feel warm or uncomfortable, but she thought that she could feel her skin getting tighter...
Shortly afterwards, we were met by Claire who told me how excited she was to see the botox demonstration by the Re-Enhance Skin and Body Clinic since she had been thinking about biting the botox bullet for a while. We stood talking to one of the doctors on the stand for a while about the ins and outs of botox, he was very professional, honest and somehow our barrage of questions didn't phase him at all! After watching the first botox demo, Claire found herself as the next patient! I think she surprised herself after agreeing to have it done, but it was fast, painless and she was so pleased afterwards. I'm really fascinated by botox now (not that I'd have it done, I just find it a really interesting idea) and I can't wait for updates from Claire.
When fish pedicures first started over here in the UK on a large scale, I really wasn't convinced. Fish eating the dead skin off your feet seems a bit um...suspect to me. I thought it was a brilliant con - massage somebody's feet, stick 'em in a tank of fish, moisturise them after and charge the poor sap X amount for the privilege. It took about three hours for me to be convinced to give it a go and although it was relaxing (if a little bizarre) I'm not sure if it was the fish or the moisturising cream which made them feel a little nicer than usual. I really can't see this treatment sticking around for the long run, but it's a laugh if nothing else! Like the strorm trooper light mask, this was also a part of Spa in the City.
The event also included a stand by Katja's Kupcakes (delicious and unbelievably beautiful), Rob Schofield personal training (the sight of a Power Plate made me avoid this stand like the plague haha), manicures by the hotel's own Beauty Lounge team, spray tans by St. Tropez and a jewellery stall (couldn't see any business cards on the table unfortunately!).
I really enjoyed myself and ended up staying faaar later than I had expected, chatting away to everyone! I can honestly say that I will be checking Wahanda out for treaments in my city - I've never really looked into spa treatments and such before, but I can see a new interest blossoming! First up, microdemabrasion!
