BLOGS IN BLOOM - Rachel's Favourite Drops of Colour for Nails

In this week's 'Blogs in Bloom', Rachel of TwentySomethingBeauty shares some of her favourite nail polish colours of the year so far.

1. Tell us a little about yourself...

My Name is Rachel and I'm a soon to be twenty something student living in rainy Scotland. I love all things beauty and fashion related and am pretty much your typical girly girl: I scream at spiders; have far too much makeup; enjoy all things shiny and sparkly and commandeer the bathroom far too often I'm told! I have a passion for travelling and when my money doesn't go on pretty things it's being saved up so I can and visit all the stunning places of the world. I embody the quote 'I get homesick for places I've never been'. I'm really enjoying blogging for the opportunities it's giving me to meet some lovely people, practice my creative writing skills and having excuses to buy pretty things!

2. What can we expect to see from your blog?

You can expect more fashion hauls, beauty reviews and hopefully OOTD and FOTDs. Hopefully as I become more proficient I'll branch out into other areas. So long as you don't mind the odd ramble on life/ramble in general come along and have a look.

Favourite Drops of Colour For Nails

Hey girls!

It's Rachel from twentysomethingbeauty here to chat to you about nail polish today.

Pretty much like any other beauty addict I have masses of nail polish lying around. Well when I say lying around I mean overflowing from boxes! I envy you girls with the neat drawers full of coordinated nail polishes, and makeup in general, as my organisational skills leave much to be desired.

As always happens, even when I have a ton of pretty colours, I tend to settle on a few for a six month period of time. So I thought I'd show you some of my favourites from the first half of this year:

OPI San Tan-tonio, OPI Dulce De Leche, OPI An Affair in Red Square, OPI Mermaids Tears, OPI Skull and Glossbones, Models Own Utopia, Models Own Pastel Pink, Models Own Lemon Merigune

Can you tell I have a slight obsession with OPI and Models own...

San Tan-tonio - When I saw the OPI Texas collection I was relatively unimpressed. Then I saw this shade and it became something I had to have. Cue tracking it down on ebay and getting it shipped over here to my greedy little paws as fast as humanly possible. This is a gorgeous light milky brown which is surprisingly classy and understated on the nails. It complements my skin tone surprisingly well considering I'm pale as a ghost, giving me nude nails whilst avoiding the mannequin look. Applies opaque in two coats.

Dulce De Leche - One of the most perfect nudes ever created in my opinion. Pulls a creamy light pink on me with a lovely understated finish. I use this for interviews and days where I want to feel just a little bit classy. Applies opaque in 3 coats.

An Affair in Red Square - This always reminds me of being in the US because that's where I first saw it. Beautiful pink toned red with silver sparkle through it. After two coats is a lovely deep red that manages to be fun and flirty without the imposing nature of some true reds. I wear this when I'm going on a night out or on my tootsies for a pop of colour.

Mermaids Tears - Released with the Pirates of the Caribbean collection (which I want every single colour from I love it that much) this is one of the most unique shades I own. This a light sea foam green that looks deliciously creamy and rich on the nails. Fabulously girly and pretty I always get compliments when I wear it. The only problem is the formula is a little thin and requires 4 coats to become truly even and opaque.

Skull and Glossbones - Without a doubt my absolute favourite. Gorgeous light grey thats instantly screams class when it's on your nails. This hasn't been off my nails for about a month now and I don't see it being usurped anytime soon. Again the only problem in the formula, but I can cope with that for such a pretty colour.

Utopia - Another unique shade in my collection. A light purple that manages to look understated and subtle on my nails. This is another shade I would use for the office or for an interview because it's girly yet grown up at the same time. A little concession to beauty in the working woman's world. Applies opaque after three coats.

Pastel Pink - Bought to appease my craving for bright colours! This bubblegum pink is creamy and richly glossy on the nails. Perfect for summer. Applies opaque after three coats.

Lemon Meringue - Again, bought because I was craving bright summery colours. I often pair this sunshine yellow with Pastel Pink as an accent nail. Applies opaque after three coats.
Swatches:
All these colours last a good three/four days without chipping, apply well without streaks and build to beautiful glossy finishes.

What are your current nail polish loves? Anything you think I'd like?
